Brickworks December 2022 Update

2022 has been a busy year on the Brickworks projects. Doma and its various consultants have been working on the various approval processes and have managed to reach the following milestones.

Estate Development Plan

Doma’s Draft Estate Development Plan (EDP) was endorsed by the Suburban Land Agency in August 2022 before submission to Deed Management in September 2022.

Deed management have circulated the Draft EDP and Doma recieved entity responses in November 2022. Doma will now respond to these comments in preparation for a Final Estate Development Application.

Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)

Doma has been busy addressing agency comments associated with the precinct’s Environmental Impact Statement and an updated submission was sent to the Territory in March 2022.

Some minor comments were received in September 2022 and Doma submitted responses in November 2022.

The EIS is currently with ESPDD’s Impact Assessment Team for a final report and is on track to be endorsed by mid 2023.

Heritage

Doma has been working with ACT Heritage on a number of approvals.

  • Doma’s Heritage Interpretation Strategy was approved in early September

  • Doma’s proposed brick cleaning test methodology was approved

  • Doma’s Archaeological Investigation Report was lodged and is awaiting for council to reform after a snap review was called by the Heritage Minister

Community Engagement

Doma has been meeting with members of a project specific Brickworks Community panel monthly or as required throughout the project which ahs included members from the Yarralumla Residents Association, South Canberra Residents Association, Pedal Power, the Conservation Council and SEE Change Canberra.

Doma plan to hold a Public Presentation Event at Hotel Realm in March 2023 to present a Final Estate Development Plan and invite community comments. More details for this event will follow in early 2023.
